In 1930, the British govt arrested 17,000 women for their involvement in the Dandi Yatra (Salt March).
During 1937 to 1947 (10 Years), they arrested 5,000 women involved in the freedom struggle.
From 2004 to 2006, the govt of India arrested 90,000 women of all ages under 498A. On the average, 27,000 women per year are being arrested under this flawed law. These are stats from the NCRB.
The family of the writer was tortured by the Indian Police in an attempt to extort over a $100,000 by holding them in custody for over a week. The police, in cahoots with the magistrate and the PP, did this due to the ridiculous allegations made in a 498A case by his embittered ex-wife. She filed the case years after he and his family had last seen her. Thousands of 498A cases are filed each year in India by women seeking to wreak vengeance on their husbands and in-laws. Enormous sums are extorted from intimidated families implicated in these cases by corrupt Indian police officers and elements of the Indian judiciary. The author and his family haven't bribed any public official nor have they given in to the extortion. This blog aims to raise awareness of due process in India. The content of this blog constitutes, opinions, observations, and publicly available documents. The intent is not to slander or defame anyone or any institution and is the manifestation of the author's right to freedom of expression – with all the protections this right guarantees.
I have experienced prejudice by the law. It seems as though every time there’s an issue the finger is pointed at the man. It happened to me. As men we don’t think to tell the police that we have been hit or beaten. I guess we feel it will go away no big deal. Men can fight and be friends again. No Grudges kept. Women on the other hand seem to use the law as leverage to get what they want. To prove a point. The point that they can hit you! You, being a man, don’t bruise easily. The police will see the bruise on me too and you’ll be the aggressor. It’s my word against yours and I’m a girl so you have to be the agressor. What’s more is that men don’t want to see their wife go to jail. To explain to children that their mother did wrong. Your partner hits you six times in the face, you try to walk away. You don’t think to call the police you might try to restrain her or shove her away. She might get bumped into something and a bruise may result and you are suddenly facing an assult charge or domestic violence. But what about the initiating six blows to the face. Was she not the aggressor. Shouldn’t she be arrested? Not in my case. Instead I get arrested and played with by my wife. Her way of telling me its the way I say you’ll go to jail and I won’t show up in court. They’ll let you out. But just know that the law is on my side and I can pick a fight with you and win. I’m in control. I’m sure men can relate to this. Our women are aggressive and the law is prejudiced on the issue. Ijust think the law protects women and the are abusing it. I think the same for paternity and abortion but that’s a differnt topic.

Dear friends, I am a cousin of Shaleen Kabra. I did not wish to intervene in this discussion, which is a bad name to my family. But, personally I feel that there has been gross injustice with my bhabhi. Nothing else to say.

Hello! I know this is somewhat off topic but
I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this site?
I’m getting tired of WordPress because I’ve had problems with hackers and I’m looking
at alternatives for another platform. I would be fantastic if
you could point me in the direction of a good platform.
